健康長大的秘密武器─孩童優質睡眠指南

 

 針對日前媒體報導「精神科醫師逆風挺虎媽 稱別再糾結「日睡幾小時」:孩子有百種教養方式」一文,臺灣兒童青少年精神醫學會認為其內容缺乏實證基礎,易誤導父母對兒童青少年成長發育健康所需之優質睡眠。

    本會嚴正聲明:優質睡眠對於兒童和青少年的身心健康至關重要。美國與歐洲睡眠醫學會早已達成共識,對促進兒童和青少年最佳健康所需的睡眠量提出建議(Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, Vol. 12, No. 6, 2016) ,這些建議如下:

•嬰兒 4 個月至 12 個月,一天24小時(含小睡)應睡眠 12 至 16 小時

•1 至 2 歲的兒童,一天24小時(含午睡)應睡眠 11 至 14 小時。

•3至5歲的兒童,一天24小時(含午睡)應睡眠10至13小時

•6 至 12 歲兒童,一天24小時應睡眠 9 至 12 小時

•13 至 18 歲的青少年,一天24小時應睡眠 8 至 10 小時

 

    許多國內外的實證研究也早已一致指出,充足的睡眠不僅可改善兒童青少年的注意力、學習力及記憶力,也能穩定其情緒行為、增進生活品質及促進精神與身體的健康。睡眠不足反而易增加意外事故發生、受傷、高血壓、肥胖、糖尿病及憂鬱症等風險;亦會提高青少年自殺風險、自殺念頭與自殺企圖等等

   

    臺灣兒童青少年精神醫學會對此一文內容深表遺憾本會再次呼籲:”充足的睡眠以及適當的飲食和運動”不只是人類基本的生理需求 更是兒童青少年成長發育過程中,至關重要的基本元素。我們相信,父母更期待與重視的是:每位兒童青少年有健康的身體發展與健全的心智發展。我們尊重每一個小孩子的發展特異性,但是陪伴孩子一起通宵達旦地完成課業,並不是正確的訊息。國內過去的研究顯示:臺灣的兒童青少年睡眠時數比其他國家少,因此我們的兒童青少年反而是需要比目前更多的睡眠,以增進其身心健康。

   

    希望藉此聲明,臺灣兒童青少年精神醫學會期待兒童青少年之照顧者與教育單位,應積極促進兒童青少年獲得充足的睡眠,養成正確規律的睡眠習慣讓孩子獲得對其成長、發育和整體健康有益的優質睡眠,讓國家未來的主人翁快樂、健康、自信地成長。
